The fattest housing block ever? The 37x 50 x 50 meter volume contains neither a communal courtyard nor a collective atrium. Instead, the massive volume is stuffed with private spaces, high and mysteriously lit, dedicated to those activities their inhabitants prefer not to expose to the bright light of the façade. Elevators connect the apartments directly to the lobby which is programmed 24/7. The extreme economy of the compact building allows constructing the additional double-high spaces without extra costs within the budget of a normal apartment. A large part of the plot remains open and is activated by sports activities and a weekly market. Last, but not least, leaving the site partly unbuilt will create opportunities for future development.
